Have a desktop watchmaker

I found much easier to drag&drop all i needed on a blank watchface then edit the jsons / graphics on desktop editors.
When do you plan to release a desktop watchmaker app?

Someone talked about doing one on here:
http://www.reddit.com/r/WatchMaker/comments/2m6lnl/request_any_possibility_of_desktop_version/

We don't have anything concrete planned but can support anyone who would like to have a go at building one.

A quick tip is to export your watch to your PC / MAC and use a text editor to edit the watch.xml file.

Agreed, the Android phone based editor while functional is fiddly to use. The ideal would be a web-based cross-platform editor app. I would volunteer to write it but I have a day job! I would however contribute towards a fund for someone to do this.

Or just use and android is emulator on PC to run watchmaker app there
janderson86, 22.01.2015, 18:19
This would be a very useful item for me as I design all my artwork on the PC.

They don't need to make a desktop version. Just get it working in Arc-Welder and have a tablet orientation. The app itself could just run inside chrome!

This would be awesome, I have thought about cracking out the .net and trying to make an editor, however there are so many features in watchmaker it would be a mamoth task to implement them all without interactions form the developers.

i just need the watch file to upload to something like Google drive or some such...I have an android tab but I need to move it without having to jump through hoops...

I already made an editor in .NET for windows based PCs however, I don't have a previewer. I created an XML schema for the object in Watch Maker and use it to serialize the XML out of an editor. It works by creating the same directory structure as Watch Maker. The script editor is just a basic text based IDE with basic syntax checking and nothing fancy. It works I made a watch face in it and put it on my SD card and imported it. I use it on my watch and it works great. Problem is my windows based app is written for me by me and I would have to spend a month cleaning and polishing it for general use. Also I would have to create a graphics editor and preview portions and that takes additional time. Maybe there is someone who wants to help ???? By the way...if anyone wants the watch face just email me. I can post it somewhere...

If you still have the application/know the format of the .watch file please reply. I am very interested.

If you want it put your code somewhere like github I would imagine there is an ample amount of people who would put a little time in and clean and polish it a little bit at a time and even create a previewer for it. I could probably put a little time towards it myself.

i really wouldn't mind paying for that, only issue is that it'S windows only, any chance to get it to work with mono or the upcoming .net 5 that it's cross platform(i know that there git is unstable as hell)?

I've developed a desktop version (in Java) to view/edit the WatchMaker watches called The Desktop Watchmaker.
The website is http://www.japplis.com/desktop-watchmaker/
Here is the announcement about it: https://plus.google.com/u/0/+AnthonyGoubard/posts/Shdqw8PWs97

Tried writing you through your website but submitting it came up with a 404.

Any word on this? It's no longer on your site.

FACER app already done a web (online) editor!!!! what a shame watchmaker!
cosimo193, 24.02.2016, 14:54
I've had a go with the Facer one; it's really pretty good and easy to use. Well worth having.
David Knoxq, 20.06.2019, 23:00
I didn't see anything about a web or desktop app for Facer, Where Is It!

Solution in a word - Bluestack!
I'm new to watchmaking (one week) but found this solution almost immediately.

Уважаемые разработчики! Присоединяюсь к просьбам сделать версию вашей программы для компьютера. Вы упростите жизнь разработчикам циферблатов смарт-часов.

I would love to have WatchMaker optimized for Samsung Dex experience. That would be soooo great!
Alternatively a nice landscape mode would help too.
Is that thinkable and possible? I would even pay an add-on fee for the Dex support.
Peter, 18.11.2017, 05:25
Please make a desktop version or at least landscape version for higher resolution devices, that could have the preview, the layers and the tools visible at same time, without scrolling trough them all the time.
maztech, 02.12.2018, 14:42
yes the ability to create on my laptop would be great.
Jed, 07.01.2019, 06:21
Anyone do this yet ?
Brooooks, 22.01.2019, 03:44
Yeah a desktop version would be extremely useful!! Yall are slackin!!
Tomi, 07.06.2019, 20:14
Browser or desktop version please :)
Xander, 09.12.2020, 18:25
Count me in on this. I've a total noob on making watches but I'm 100x more proficient on a desktop than fiddling around with it on my phone.
